IPE-Beam

IPE-beams are a type of beam characterized by their distinctive 'I'-shaped profile, hence the name IPE, which stands for "I-profile European".
There are many advantages to IPE. Firstly, their unique shape gives them high stiffness and strength in relation to their weight, making them ideal for use in constructions where load and stability are critical. They are also very durable, thanks to steel's natural resistance to corrosion and wear.
IPE beams are very versatile.

They can be used in a variety of applications, from building construction and bridge building, to the manufacture of trucks and rail wagons. They can be customized to fit specific project needs, which means they can be formed, bent, and welded without losing their strength or integrity.

IPE beams are also cost-effective, as they are relatively simple to manufacture and install compared to other construction methods. This makes them an attractive choice for construction companies looking for durable, efficient, and economical solutions.

WHAT CAN HUDDINGE STEEL DO?

IPE beams are flexible in terms of design and layout.
At Huddinge Steel, we offer quality assignments in cutting, welding, and painting of IPE beams. The IPE beam is cut using band saws and circular saws. We have optically controlled cutting machines that enable fine-cut details. We deliver forged items in various shapes and qualities.
We cut, and clip, to the measurements and angles that you need.
We also offer welding of IPE beams according to your wishes.
At Huddinge Steel, we have access to IWS competence for welding supervision for EXC2 entirely in accordance with SS EN 1090-2. We also carry out painting of constructions with a length of up to 22 meters and a width of up to 4 meters. The painting is done in Huddinge and we do both primer and lacquering, class 1 to 5.

IPE BEAM LOAD capacity

The load capacity of an IPE beam is directly related to its dimensions. Generally speaking, the larger the dimensions of an IPE beam, the greater the load it can bear. This is because the increase in the beam's height and width provides a larger cross-sectional area, which in turn leads to increased strength and load capacity.

The dimensions of IPE beams (e.g. IPE 100, IPE 120, IPE 140) refer to their profile height in millimeters. For example, an IPE 100 beam has a height of 100 millimeters. In addition to the height, the width of the flanges, the thickness of the flanges and the web (the vertical segment in the middle), and the weight per meter also vary between the different sizes.

But it's important to note that the load capacity also depends on other factors, such as the quality of the material, the nature and direction of the load, and how the beam is supported.
